AG Diversity at IMIS

The AG Diversity at IMIS is an open association of staff members at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) with the goal of promoting diversity in research and teaching at IMIS and indirectly at Osnabrück University.

The AG emerged in 2018 in the course of discussions between teachers and students of the Master International Migration and Intercultural Relations (IMIB). Since then, exchange meetings between students and teachers have been initiated and first projects have been implemented. The AG reports regularly at the IMIS general meeting and is connected university-wide on the topic of diversity.

Our activities to date

  • Recommendations on how to promote and deal with diversity at IMIS
  • Workshops on diversity-sensitive and discrimination-critical teaching/learning
  • Handout on diversity-sensitive and discrimination-critical teaching/learning

We meet at least once per quarter either in the IMIS meeting room or/and digitally via the StudIP group "AG Diversität am IMIS". We plan activities and exchange information about developments in the field of diversity at IMIS and Osnabrück University. Interested IMIS staff members are welcome to actively participate!

IMIB students can contact us at any time for an open exchange of needs and problems as well as student initiatives on diversity at IMIS. This is not a substitute for IMIB students course advising (
